If you like to watch series with perfect blend of humour, mystery and action, all sewed together with futuristic gadgets, then look no further my friend!
Consider this: you are a multi-millionaire young man enjoying a load of property all over the globe, a personal AI assistance capable of doing almost everything and, even being this filthy-rich, you decides to join as an inspector. Seems like a great plot, right? Well it is!
“Fugō Keiji Baransu Anrimiteddo” or “Millionaire Detective Balance: Unlimited” is a fun and engaging anime. It is inspired, not completely based on, by the light novel written by Yasutaka Tsutsui. For an anime that share the genre (Detective and Mystery) with some of the most ingenious anime like Death Note, Detective Conan, B: The Beginning, Terror in Resonance etc, Millionaire Detective B:U is not bad at all. I personally think this one, being a detective anime, has done a great job in showcasing the both, comic and serious side of the series. Most of the anime mentioned above either lack the exact amount of humour moments, or lack the seriousness or darkness, whatever you want to call it, that you expect from a crime related series. But Millionaire Detective has both. In the earlier episodes, no immediate relation was established, a continuous storyline was not evident and I thought it might be just another series and almost gave up on it. But since the post-corona virus restart, the story started unfolding. It may not be a story as unique as B: the Beginning or Terror in Resonance, but still it is a good pick to watch.
As far as animation is concerned, Korean touch is very much visible. Though the scenes may give a ‘foreign-art’ feeling to the ‘otakus’ on a few occasions, overall it is pretty decent and, although there are not many as of now, fighting sequences are also fluid, especially the one in the latest 9th episode.
Music is very enjoyable, and for a very good reason – The intro "Navigator" is performed by ‘Six Tones’ while Okamoto's performs the series' ending theme song "Welcome My Friend". Both the songs do total justice with the theme of anime and you might find yourself humming the outro song for some days.
Plot:
Daisuke Kanbe, a detective with extraordinary assets, asks to be assigned to the Modern Crime Prevention Headquarters, where only those who have caused problems for the Metropolitan Police Department are sent; something an officer would consider as an insult. MCPH guys are like errand boys. There, Daisuke is partnered with Haru Katou. Haru is a very passionate and quick tempered agent, who firmly believes in his principles. Haru was once a member of First Division of Metropolitan Police Department, but he left due to a series of misfortunate events described later on in the series. Haru is repulsed by Daisuke's methods, all those methods include humongous amount of money and heavy reliance on gadgets, which Haru deems unnecessary and unethical. Challenging mysteries unfold in front of the two detectives, and they must work together to solve them. The series will offer a decent amount of comedy in the beginning, as the show progress, especially from episode 5, things start getting more and more intense.
Another thing I think is cool in its own unique way is the ‘cost incurred’. At the end of every episode, a complete list of expenditure is presented with ‘total cost’, of course not the cost of the production or animation, but the cost of gadgets Daisuke used in the episode! Title of every episode is also very fancy. In the end, I believe you will enjoy this new anime and more can be expected from the series since it is only the beginning.
Hope you liked this article, if so, please consider sharing it with your otaku friends. Happy Anime-ing!!
