A Manhwa, not a Manga…
By now, you guys should have already got that this is a manhwa not a manga, as I have stressed this point from the beginning. "Tower of God” was created by S.I.U and is a Korean comic, also called ‘Manhwa’,
just like manga but have
colors on it.
Manhwa that are released online are called 'webtoons'; ‘Tower of God’ is one
such webtoon. Apart from plot, I have divided the review in 2 sections: anime version and manhwa version for a better understanding.
“Both Manga and Manhwa originated from the word Manhua, the traditional story-telling arts (art books) from China. Though Manhua predates both Manga and Manhwa, it is not as popular.”
Manhwa
To my friends out there who read manhwa/manga/manhua, I would like
to suggest you all to try this webtoon as in my view, manhwa version is more engaging
with good and proper character development, stable plot and good artwork, for a
webtoon that is. Though I can't say it’s a 10/10 artistic work of the maker but
still a solid 6/10 rating (in my view), and obviously webtoons are colorful,
who doesn't like colors. One simple problem that I as a reader encountered,
which I am sure you guys will be frustrated about, is searching for a page
where you can read the whole stuff without any mistake. I searched about 10 sites;
still never saw a site where I could read the whole manhwa without error; most
sites have scrambled-up pages, bad translation and dialogues and even sometimes
pages won't load properly. Other than this, everything about this manhwa is
good ...story line will capture your mind. This manhwa also showcase the cruel
nature of human beings; a constant fight between morals and desires within the
characters is evident on many occasions. At last I will say this manhwa is a
sweet & spicy story-line you’re looking for and at least this manhwa is
worth 2nd look of viewers.
Anime
As I already mentioned, many people may like the actual anime. I think
as compared to the manhwa, anime is much more problematic. How? Well in early
parts of anime you will see many characters that are shown as side characters
and their development is all together rushed if compare it to other anime
series, where you can see each character's development with their respective back
stories or something similar. Plot development is too fast from my perspective
but for otakus who like fast plot development and short/rushed story-lines, this
anime is a pretty good pick. In later episodes, you will see that the plot has
slowed down and the director has dropped his fast paced attitude.
Now lets talk about graphics..... graphics have some pros and cons of its
own, as "Tower of God" was made into anime from a Korean manhwa that
uses very different approach from Japanese manga in terms of art. Japanese
style of animation is a bit lacking and that might not be suitable for some, but the plus point is that
the animation is very much like the manhwa, so you enjoy the original touch of
the creator’s art. But for some watchers it may look like a bit awkward as the
background doesn't seems to blend with the characters, making it characteristically different from mainstream animes. But if you don't take a closer look, you won't be able to
spot the difference.
Other than these two points, music, fighting sequences, emotional moments and comedy scenes(which you will witness a lot) are all well-timed and well designed.
The music… is seriously very soothing; intro and outro both are lit and sets
the anime apart. I will have to say, the plot still attract watchers, so give
it try at least.

Plot
A boy named Baam has lived beneath a large tower for his whole life. The only one he knows there is a girl named Rachel, who somehow finds her way into the tower. Determined to reunite with the only person he knows, Baam decided to break in. Both the characters, over the course of story-line, unearth the secrets of tower and come across a lot of interesting characters, experiencing a great deal of emotions and realizations. The one who climbs the tower first is promised to be granted any wish, but with so many people in the tower running with the same goal, will our hero reach the top and find his only friend or will he die trying is something you will know only after watching/reading this well written anime/manhwa.
